Advantages
of Therma-Fused Polyolefin vs Extruded and Bonded
- Extruded wire usually has inconsistent coating
thickness due to the difficulty in trying to keep the wire centered
- PVC pellets used for the extrusion process are not of the same
quality as the PVC used for the fused coating, containing more
fillers
- Much of the extruded product in the market
does not meet ASTM specifications as the core wire is undersized
and does not contain the proper zinc coating
- Class 1 extruded wire, if cut, will let moisture
through resulting in rust
- Does not have the durability of therma fused
polyolefin
- Class 2a bonded product, at many times, does
not comply with the adhesion test especially in cold and warm
climates.
